Close to town, a world away

January 27, 2020 by Cathy Mattingly

There just aren’t many properties of this caliber this close to the popular Hamburg shopping area of Lexington, Kentucky. Lovely Combs Ferry Road stretches from Winchester Road to Athens-Boonesboro Road, across Fayette, Clark, and Madison counties. 645 Combs Ferry Road is located just over the Clark County line in Winchester, less than a mile from Todds Road and 10 minutes to I-75. You’ll enjoy the easy access to the town of Winchester too.

This much-loved home is an charming blend of warmth and elegance. The two-story entry is stunning and opens to an impressive vaulted living room which is highlighted by a wall of windows/French doors. Enjoy a meal and conversation with friends in the intimate dining room. Prepare a gourmet meal or just a quick snack in the large, well-appointed kitchen area with vast island, breakfast area, and pantry. Put your feet up in front of the fire in the cozy family room. When you’re ready for bed, retreat to the spacious, luxurious master suite, complete with two closets, separate vanities, freestanding tub, and fully tiled shower. Wide baseboards and crown molding and graceful arches throughout create grace and harmony.

The upstairs is fabulous too, with a balcony walkway overlooking the living room and entry. Two bedrooms share an unusually large Jack and Jill bath, and a third bedroom has a private bath. Downstairs, there’s a full basement, partially finished with a full bath and entrances from the house and the garage.

Outside, you’ll find a charming, covered front porch, perfect for morning coffee or curling up with a book. Enjoy a cocktail on the large covered porch out back that you can access from the kitchen, the master bedroom or the sliding French-style doors in the living room. Or have an al fresco meal on the stone patio that is nestled among trees and landscaping.

The five acre property is flat and private, surrounded on 3 sides by farmland. The large barn adds rural charm and tons of storage. You can easily add stalls for a couple of horses or minis. The owner has made significant (and costly) improvements since purchasing the property. These include black four-board fencing with wire mesh around the entire property, an electronic gate at the front, additional trees to complement the lovely landscaping, and water access to the front of the property and at the garden and barn.

Everything about this property says, “Take a deep breath and relax . . . you are home. ” It is priced at $675,000 and shown by appointment only.

Come Home to Kentucky for the Lakes

Daniel Boone famously said, “Heaven must be a Kentucky kind of place.” Hundreds of years later, Kentucky is still stunningly beautiful, whether you’re in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, the rolling bluegrass of Central Kentucky or really anywhere in the state, you’ll find nature showing off. We’re particularly proud of our lakes here. I grew … Continue Reading » about Come Home to Kentucky for the Lakes
